Relative salience of chord-type and chord-voicing changes: A two-oddball paradigm

چکیده

Our research project investigated the effect of background and stimuli factors on relative salience chord-type chord-voicing changes. Earlier studies have shown that surface features tend to be easier perceive than deeper musical training attenuates this general tendency. For further studying how deeper-level surface-level are perceived, we used a two-oddball paradigm. Each item consisted succession five same-root chords: one oddball (deeper feature), voicing (surface three standards. Participants chose chord sounded most different them. All pairings formed major, minor, dominant seventh, major minor seventh chords were tested. Chord-type chosen equally often, together forming majority responses. Musical conceptual knowledge affected responses, but not voicing-oddball However, oddballs regardless training. responses easiest for pairs consisting major-based minor-based involving two pitch-class results suggest about is only factor influencing changes over

Chord Recognition using Instrument Voicing Constraints

This paper presents a technique of disambiguation for chord recognition based on a-priori knowledge of probabilities of chord voicings in the specific musical medium. The main motivating example is guitar chord recognition, where the physical layout and structure of the instrument, along with human physical and temporal constraints, make certain chord voicings and chord sequences more likely th...

Computational Model for Automatic Chord Voicing Based on Bayesian Network

We developed a computational model for automatically voicing chords based on a Bayesian network. Automatic chord voicing is difficult because it is necessary to choose extended notes and inversions by taking into account musical simultaneity and sequentiality. We overcome this difficulty by inferring the most likely chord voicing using a Bayesian network model where musical simultaneity and seq...

Chord Estimation Using Chord Templates and Hmm

This document describes a submission to the Music Information Retrieval Evaluation eXchange in the Audio Chord Recognition task. A set of chroma vectors representing the pitch content of the audio file over time is extracted. From these observations the chord progression is then estimated using hidden Markov models. The system takes into account the presence of higher harmonics of pitch notes a...

F-Chord: Improved uniform routing on Chord

Peer-to-peer (P2P) is a class of network applications in which each workstation has equivalent capabilities and responsibilities and communications are potentially symmetric. P2P computing takes advantage of existing computing power, computer storage, and networking connectivity, available at the edges of the Internet, by allowing users to leverage their collective power to the benefit of all. ...

Chord-Sequence-Factory: A Chord Arrangement System Modifying Factorized Chord Sequence Probabilities

This paper presents a system named ChordSequenceFactory for automatically generating chord arrangements. A key element of musical composition is the arrangement of chord sequences because good chord arrangements have the potential to enrich the listening experience and create a pleasant feeling of surprise by borrowing elements from different musical styles in unexpected ways. While chord seque...
